Glow in the dark, Texas sized 13”, Under the label groove, Black and Blue, Tri-color or Peach scented LPs? For that you’ve gotta be at Third Man Records, Jack White’s label, physically based in Nashville, TN. Their slogan: “Your Turntable’s Not Dead.” Releases are only available in vinyl, or digitally.
In its current state Third Man Records serves as record store, record label, and one stop production house with a rehearsal and photo studio, darkroom, production office and distribution center. A completely local approach is the case here. All the record are produced by Jack White and then printed and pressed right in Nashville. Recording and photographs can be done in a day. The record can be in the store in only a couple of weeks. Doesn’t that sound like a great efficient and locally supporting music business?
The new LP child of Jack White’s Third Man Records is the Triple Decker Record. This mind game, like Jack White prefers to call it himself, is new for the release of The Dead Weather single ‘Blue Blood Blues’. It contains a non-released 7” embedded inside the 12” single. It will be limited to 300 copies, 100 of which will be sold in the Nashville home store of the label. See here how it works, as Jack shows it himself.
